Integrated Research Activities in Psychology, Sports, and Cognitive Sciences
The Joint Doctoral Center Association has recently launched a multidisciplinary research program with the aim of exploring the interactions between structured physical activity, cognitive processes, and psychosocial development. The project lies at the intersection of applied neuroscience, clinical and educational psychology, and motor sciences.
The main focus of the research is to analyze how complex sports activities—in particular martial arts and codified motor practices—can support cognitive functions such as attention, working memory, executive functions, and emotional-behavioral regulation, with a particular focus on populations with learning disorders, ADHD, and psychosocial vulnerabilities.
Through experimental protocols, pre-post neuropsychological assessments, and the involvement of multidisciplinary teams, the initiative aims to contribute to the development of integrated intervention models combining physical practice and cognitive therapy. At the same time, qualitative and quantitative data will be collected to support the scientific validation of innovative tools for prevention and school and social inclusion.
This line of research reflects the Joint Doctoral Center's mission to promote a scientific, interdisciplinary, and person-centered approach, integrating theoretical evidence with concrete applications in the field.
